Holy Cow! I know, I know! It's been almost a month since I first launched the Bonneville Women's Golf Blog. I had the best intentions for updating weekly and doing new videos and posting scores and tournament information and yada yada yada...let's just say my heart was in the right place even if my butt wasn't planted firmly enough in front of my computer. Of course, a large portion of that time was not wasted but spent on one golf course or another.
What a glorious start we've had at Bonny since Cinco de Mayo! The weather has been absolutely fabulous even if many of us were still trying to figure out what iron we use around the greens. We had a respectable first day turnout of more than 30 women and added even more new friends to our membership. Our membership currently totals 44 and we're looking forward to adding a few more old and new friends before the season gets in full sway.
This past Tuesday, May 19th, we saw the first day of our 2009 BWGA Leg Match. Of the 33 entrants, 15 had BYES, but this week the concept of resting on your handicaps ends. Eveyone is going to have to prove she has what it takes to stay in. Check your emails this weekend for updates on the brackets. The $165 entry fee will be divided equally between the three brackets and will pay 1st and 2nd Places in each bracket at the end of the summer.
I'm also trying a different format for the videos and slideshow. Instead of appearing on sidebar hosted by YouTube, they will appear in the body of the weekly posts. This has the potential to be better (hopefully not worse!). It's all about experimentation right now. In the meantime, I've removed "Alligators on the Greens." Look for a new video next week--I think...I hope.
However, the 2008 Urban Tournament slideshow is still available although I have reformatted it. It plays a little faster now. Also, you should be able to view it in a larger format. I'd like it to be a permanent fixture at least until this year's tourney. Be warned though--it still may take a while for it to load. Those of you without a high-speed connection may not be able to see it at all.
That's about it for this week. Beth is still in Costa Rica, so yours truly will be sending out Tuesday's POD scores, Leg Match results, and Pyramid winners this weekend. I'm going to wait until the end of this month to publish our first Ringer. After that, you should be able to see it every two weeks. 'Til then, play well and have fun. I'll be looking for you on the tee!

On the Tee April 28, 2009
Welcome to the Bonneville Women's Golf Blog! I guess almost everybody has at least some idea of what a blog* is, and if you're still not sure, you're looking at one right now.
The main purpose of the BWG Blog is to provide a central location for league information, but I also hope we can have a little fun with it along the way. I'll be updating all the features on a regular basis, some weekly, others only as the need arises. From time to time, new feature categories will show up and others will be retired.
As of this week, here's what's on tap or what will be soon: A new On the Tee, my weekly blog, will appear each Monday and will focus on issues and events important to Bonneville women golfers. From time to time, guest writers may appear in this spot. On Deck lists upcoming events of interest to BWGC players. Beginning the second week in May, you can see the Weekly Winners.
From team schedules to interviews, tournament reminders to interesting facts, profiles to the Rules of Play--it'll all be here. I'm also interested in hearing your ideas for other feature categories and topics you think would be helpful or interesting. Just let me know. If you like, you can leave them in the comment section below, email me, or talk to me at the course.
Before you leave today, take a couple of minutes to watch the 2008 Urban Bonneville Golf Challenge slideshow, photos courtesy of Marci McGregor, or check out the video showing what some people have been doing over the winter in Alligators on the Greens! The slideshow will stick around for a while, but the video will change monthly (maybe a little more frequently).
That's it for now. It's been a long winter and after this last weekend, I'm not sure it's over yet! But right now the sun is shining, the grass is green, the air is getting warmer by the minute--what more can a golfer ask? I'll see you on the tee!
